Primary Purpose of Position
The Mathematics and Computer Science Department of the University
of North Carolina at Pembroke invites applications to fill the
Allen C. Meadors Distinguished Professorship Endowed Chair in
Computer Science/ Cyber Security. The position is designated at the
rank of Associate or Full Professor. The professorship includes
competitive salary as well as a research and travel stipend.
Candidates with a Ph.D in Computer Science. Computer Engineering,
or Information Technology, as well as applicants without the
terminal degree but with significant industry or military
experience in Cyber Security will be considered. Candidates with
the doctorate will be eligible to participate in the tenure
process; candidates without the doctorate will be eligible to
participate in multi-year contract renewal outside of the tenure
process. Degree and experience will be weighed and considered in
evaluation of eligibility for tenure process. The successful
candidate will have a demonstrated record of strong teaching, grant
writing, research (or practical experience) in Cyber Security.
He/she also will have demonstrated aptitude in mentoring and will
be expected to engage in research and grantsmanship, as well as
facilitate and develop industry, government, and military
contacts.
The Allen C. Meadors Distinguished Professor will teach two courses
per semester and help design additional coursework including
certificate programming, as well as develop and facilitate
internship opportunities for students. The ideal candidate will
also develop grant-funded research programs along with publication
of peer-reviewed research. The selected individual will also have
experience in other areas such as web technology, data science,
software engineering, operating systems, mobile computing,
networking, or game programming.

The position is designated at the rank of Associate or Full
Professor. The professorship includes competitive salary as well as

UNC Pembroke, part of the University of North Carolina system, is
among the most diverse universities in the South and has a student
population of 7700 in various graduate, undergraduate, and
professional programs. Originally founded in 1887 to educate
Native-Americans, UNC Pembroke has grown rapidly in recent years.

Minimum Training and Experience Requirements:
Candidates with a Ph.D in Cyber Security, Computer Science.
