Job Description Summary

History of the Civil War Era: The Department of History at Auburn University seeks applications for a tenure-track appointment in the history of the Civil War Era, broadly defined, at the rank of assistant or associate professor. The successful candidate will develop and teach graduate and undergraduate courses in Civil War history and in their area of specialization. The candidate will play a significant role in the graduate program. The candidate will also teach in Auburn’s core curriculum in world history.

Minimum Qualifications

A Ph.D. in History is required at the time of appointment; outstanding candidates who are in the final stages of doctoral candidacy will be considered but completion of the degree is expected prior to the start of the appointment in August 2021.
