Job Summary

The Coordinator of Parent and Family Programs assists with the design and implementation of all family programs, including orientation programming and Eagle Family Weekend. This position requires a great deal of collaboration with other departments to maintain strong programming efforts and to serve as a cohesive resource for parents and family members. In addition to programming efforts, this position will serve as a point-person for parents, family members, and other supporters of FGCU students by overseeing communications, social media, and publications. The Coordinator of Parent and Family Programs oversees the scheduling, training, supervision, and evaluation of the student staff who facilitate the Eagle View Orientation Parent and Family Program.

Job Description

Typical duties may include but are not limited to:

Oversees the training, supervision, and evaluation of the student staff who facilitate the Eagle View Orientation Parent and Family Program and the program assistant who supports Parent and Family Programs in the fall and spring semesters.

Coordinates work schedule and workflow for the student staff of the Parent Team.

Assists in the recruitment and selection of the student staff for the Eagle View Orientation program.

Assists the Director with the design and implementation of all new student and family orientation programs, focusing on orientation programming for parents, family members, and other supporters.

Works directly with campus partners to coordinate orientation programming, update presentation materials, and garner information that should be shared with parents and families.

Oversees the design, editing, production, and distribution of publications for parents, family members, and supporters such as program materials, application of social media, use of tech platforms such as Guidebook and a robust website, a monthly electronic newsletter, and a digital family handbook.

Maintains the database of parent and family contact information.

Assists the Director with current and new family program initiatives, including Eagle Family Weekend and a monthly webinar series.

Other Duties:

Assists with the overall vision and implementation of Eagle View Orientation and departmental initiatives.

Serves on committees as assigned by supervisor and participates in leadership development opportunities, including professional conferences.

Assists the First Year Experience staff in representing the department at recruitment events, Week of Welcome, and other activities sponsored by the Division for Student Success and Enrollment Management.

Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Additional Job Description

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate area of specialization.

Two years of experience in student personnel services, student life, student development, or related area.

Experience operating a personal computer and proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree from an accredited institution in Student Affairs, College Student Personnel Services, Counseling, or a related field.

Experience in Higher Education orientation and/or parent and family programming. Experiencing hiring, training, and supervising college students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively, both spoken and written, with staff, students, family members, and faculty.

Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of event planning.

Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Ability to work with various campus personnel and departments in a spirit of teamwork and collaboration.

Knowledge of student development theory, the needs of families (and students) in transition, and the core elements of successful programming.

Knowledge of FERPA regulations.

Knowledge of or ability to learn multiple technological platforms such as Banner, Workday, Visual Zen Orientation, Canvas Learning Management System, etc.

Salary Range

$38,000 - $41,000
