Job Summary

The admissions counselor is responsible for managing all aspects of admissions and enrollment for prospective students, as well as applicants to the university. This position recruits new students, collects and documents all admission submissions and conducts financial aid packaging. This position will focus on assisting active duty, veterans, and eligibly military dependents through the admissions process.

Essential Job Functions and Performance Indicators

Job Responsibilities

  • Assists students in determining military benefit eligilbity and completing required paperwork
  • Manages recruitment and admissions processes
  • Assists in managing day-to-day functionality of office environment at St. Charles and other university affiliated locations
  • Creates financial award packages for new students in collaboration with the Student Financial Services and the university’s institutional aid policy
  • Represents university admissions at school visits, community events, college fairs and all other recruitment initiatives
  • Meets recruitment goals and adheres to department policies for student outreach


Service Orientation

  • Meets with students and prospective families to explain program offerings, completes new student paperwork, reviews admissibility standards, determines all financial aid qualifications/awards and prepares financial packages for each student in a timely and professional manner
  • Provides a professional level of service for all employees, students and external partners
  • Leads campus tours and student appointments
  • Serves as university liaison for new students, external parties and all essential university departments


Communication, Collaboration and Teamwork

  • Communicates and documents all correspondence with current and prospective students
  • Fields phone calls and walk-in appointments for all programs and formats
  • Collaborates with all university departments and academic schools to provide superior student service


Planning, Organizing and Accountability

  • Complies with federal, state, institution and accreditation policies and procedures
  • Completes routine reports for recruitment, projections, scheduling and development
  • Maintains accurate records and data on admitted students and applicants
  • Adheres to university policies regarding travel and procurement


Initiative, Problem Solving and Decision Making

  • Makes admissions recommendations based on holistic review of academic profile and extracurricular qualifications
  • Evaluates program effectiveness, assesses outcomes and develops improved programming for the university
  • Supports Enrollment Management with student issues and concerns
  • Assists other recruitment divisions to meet department needs and recruitment goals

Required Qualifications –An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be designated by position.

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in sales or customer service
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Experience in post-secondary education and recruitment preferred
  • Master’s degree preferred

  • ​Knowledge of military benefit eligilbity for students who are active duty, veterans, or an eligible dependent
