New Mexico Highlands University is accepting applications for a nine month, tenure-track position in Cognitive/ Experimental Psychology beginning in August 2021. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in cognitive psychology, introductory psychology, psychopharmacology, ethics, personality, statistics, research methods, positive psychology, and other assigned courses within the prescribed curriculum. This position will require development of a psychology research laboratory and an active research program.

The College of Arts and Sciences, housed within a Hispanic Serving Institution, is dedicated to creating a climate of engagement, diversity and inclusion, and providing pathways for students from under-represented groups to pursue Psychology careers. All applicants should have a demonstrated willingness to work collaboratively with faculty from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds and to advise and teach an undergraduate and graduate student body that is diverse with respect to socio-economic status, culture, and career path.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities include teaching a normal load of 24 credit hours per academic year (may be assigned to teach evening and/or Saturday classes, courses via distance education/online); holding office hours as required; advising students on academic and vocational curricula; directing student research (including theses, independent study, etc.); participating as a departmental and program representative on standing and ad-hoc committees; developing a research laboratory and an active research program in psychology; all other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: (1) Doctorate in Cognitive and/or Experimental Psychology or related field ( ABD will be considered). Experience: (1) Evidence of teaching and research excellence/potential.

Preferred Qualifications

(1) Experience with research, publications, and grant funding; (2) experience with Distance and Technology Education delivery systems.
