Assistant or Associate Professor - Civil Procedure Law - (FAC001529)
The University of Houston Law Center invites applications for an entry-level tenure-track Civil Procedure position. Applicants must hold a J.D. degree (or the equivalent) and should have outstanding records of accomplishment in scholarship, teaching, and service, or demonstrate a high probability of success as scholars, teachers, and future members of the Law Center’s broader community. Compensation will be based on experience and accomplishment. The position will commence with the fall 2021 semester.
The Law Center has about 60 full-time faculty and enrolls approximately 800 students. In addition to offering a vibrant J.D. program, the Law Center offers LL.M. concentrations in health law; taxation; energy, environment, and natural resources; international law; and intellectual property and information law. The Law Center also offers an LL.M. degree in U.S. Law to foreign lawyers. Many dozens of lawyers from countries around the world are in residence at the Law Center each year for this degree or to take the LL.M. in one of the other five LL.M. concentrations offered by the Law Center. The Law Center is fully accredited by the American Bar Association and is a member of the Association of American Law Schools. It is designated by the U. S. Department of Education as an Hispanic-Serving Institution and Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institution (AANAPISI).
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to teach civil procedure law courses, but experience or willingness to teach elsewhere in the Law Center curriculum, including other 1L courses, bar exam topics, or upper level areas complementary with the Law Center, will be a helpful credential depending on the course preferences.
