The University of Scranton Department of Theology/Religious Studies invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Black Theology or African-American Christianity and/or related sub-disciplines beginning in Fall 2021. Areas of possible focus include Christology, political theology, race and religion, African American religion, church history, and faith and culture. This search is part of a broader cluster hiring approach, which will contribute to the development of Black Studies at the University.  

Candidates should have completed the Ph.D. (or be ABD, with completion of the doctorate within the next year), be committed to undergraduate teaching, and have a well-developed research agenda in their field. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate survey courses in Christian Theology and upper level and graduate courses in an open area of specialization pertinent to race and religion. The usual teaching load is 3/3.
