  • Teach law enforcement and general criminal justice courses. The incumbent would be expected to teach courses that would include, but are not limited to Law Enforcement Investigations and Communications, Law Enforcement Operations and Procedures, Crime and Justice in America, Ethics in Criminal Justice and others.
  • Serve as the Minnesota PPOE/POST Coordinator (for students seeking certification to become a peace officer in the State of Minnesota).
  • Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance knowledge of field.
  • Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field to enhance teaching abilities.
  • Contribute to student growth and development including student advising.
  • Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve. Provide service to the university and community including the program, department, college, university and greater community.
  • Assist with programmatic assessment and coordinate PPOE/POST certification.
  • Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs




  • Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology or related field OR a Juris Doctorate.
  • A minimum of three years experience with a law enforcement agency.
  • Experience teaching at the college level.



  • A Ph.D. in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Sociology or related field.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching.
  • Experience in law enforcement investigations.
  • Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience with Minnesota PPOE/POST
  • Appropriate research agenda and publications
