Tenure-Track Position in Spanish
The Department of Spanish at Hillsdale College seeks applicants for an open-rank tenure-track position to commence August 2021. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in hand by the time of the appointment. Applicants from any field of Iberian or Latin American literature, culture or linguistics are welcome to apply, but special attention will be given to candidates with concentration in Latin American literature or any field of Iberian or Latin American Literature with the ability to teach linguistics courses. All candidates must demonstrate excellence in teaching language and literature at all undergraduate levels, native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English, evidence of scholarly potential, and an understanding of and commitment to the mission of Hillsdale College. All courses are taught in the target language.

Applicants must send a letter of application that presents evidence of strong teaching skills and an active, focused research agenda. Applicants must also include two separate documents: a) a statement of teaching philosophy and professional goals; and b) a detailed response to the College’s Mission Statement (see www.hillsdale.edu/about/mission/) that includes a discussion of the candidate’s ability to teach in the light of its commitments.
