Position Title: Marketing Communications Strategist Division/Department: Institutional Advancement Location Albany Campus, Albany, OR Job Summary:
The Marketing Communications Strategist serves as a general coordinator of marketing and communication campaign tactics for Linn-Benton Community College. Serving as an ambassador for both the department and the college, this position will be responsible for: helping to further LBCC’s initiatives by increasing brand loyalty and awareness to grow the college’s influence, supporting enrollment, positioning the institution as integral to the community, and helping the LBCC Foundation to build public goodwill, earn resources, and sustain its excellent relationships with community and government leaders. The ideal candidate is someone with a high degree of diplomacy who has experience in marketing and communications research and planning, project management, customer and vendor relations, copywriting and editing, graphic design or art direction plus video and photography skills or direction. Social media management and website maintenance is a plus. In addition to being an outstanding communicator, the person in this position should demonstrate excellent analytical skills.

Education and Training: Requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Training in public relations, communications, graphic design, journalism, or marketing is desirable. Direct experience may substitute for two years of higher education.
Experience: Requires a minimum of one year of directly related experience, including marketing campaign tactic management, writing, creative development, communications, or marketing. Marketing and communications experience in a higher education setting is desirable.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong understanding of the aspects of a campaign from concept through execution, demonstrated success designing, producing, writing, and delivering effective and engaging content, and an understanding of graphic design concepts and theories, with the ability to produce print and digital materials according to industry standards. Must have excellent attention to detail and superior organizational/project-management skills, strong research and data analysis skills, sound judgment, and the ability to establish positive relationships with internal and external clients. Must be flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment. Working knowledge of photography, script and video development, social media channels and audiences, and experience writing with attention to brand, tone/voice, and with specific calls to action is highly desirable, as is the willingness to stay abreast of design and marketing trends and tools. Demonstrated experience presenting and defending creative work is a plus. A willingness to learn the College’s website content management system and media tracking software is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed out of office with very diverse community and civic groups, corporations and individuals to raise funds for the foundation. In addition, will maintain an on-campus office. Extensive local travel is required. Work hours may vary and frequently evening and weekend work is required. Requires ability to use a computer and communicate with a diverse population. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.
Responsible for the general coordination of communications, marketing, and creative projects to ensure timely and effective completion according to department and college goals, and in alignment with brand.
Meets with internal clients to understand their strategic goals, insights, and communications objectives and barriers; reviews work requests and clarifies specific requirements of each project.
Coordinates marketing and communication campaign tactics. Develops marketing and communication project plans that promote the organization’s values and objectives, shares them with clients and the marketing team.
Tracks project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals. By assessing campaign performance for different demographics, and audiences, adjusting and retargeting based on results.
Writes, edits, tests, and distributes messages in printed and digital formats that may include website content, media advisories, press releases, fact sheets, talking points, newsletters, advertisements, demand-generation social media posts and more.
Tracks media placement and measures campaign return on investment utilizing media monitoring software. Developing outreach strategies including persona development for target audiences, and approaches for each.
Creates compelling print and digital design assets that reflect strong understanding of layout, typography and color theory and that translates to all screen sizes and operating systems including web, video, digital billboards and social media, ensures all design artwork adheres to branding and style guides.
Manages storytelling for LBCC that conveys our brand promise to the community. Including creating storyboards for video projects and assists in video post-production.
Assists with event strategy and coordination in collaboration with team members.
Manages workflow, works with external vendors if needed, and delivers assignments in a timely manner with flexibility to care for special project and time sensitive requests.
Serves as a member of the Web Team, assisting in content creation and/or updates for college and department pages, CTA landing pages, and microsites.
May train, assign and review work of student employees and interns as needed.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary range is $55,581-$77,811 for a 248-day annual contract plus comprehensive benefits. Management/exempt starting salaries normally fall within the middle of the range.
