Position Description
The Exploring College Program Manager is responsible for organizing the after school enrichment program known as Exploring College, which focuses on connecting local high school students with Vassar student mentors and preparing them for life after high school. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the Exploring College Program Manager will administer online programming 3 days a week to provide high school participants with informative workshops, extracurricular activities, and tutoring support. Programming is largely developed by the Vassar student mentors, but generally supervised by the Exploring College Program Manager. Dependent on COVID-19, this program will revert to in-person programming when safe and possible. When in-person programming can resume, the program will continue to meet three days a week at the Poughkeepsie High School or on Vassar's campus. The Program Manager will additionally oversee and manage the 2-week long summer intensive, which may or may not be a residential program in summer 2021 depending on COVID.

  • Supervise Vassar students serving as mentors through work study, field work, or as volunteers.
  • Develop and lead training for Vassar mentors.
  • Recruit high school student participants and maintain communication with them throughout programming.
  • Collect college readiness resources and help Vassar mentors develop lesson plans for programming. Occasionally lead sessions.
  • Develop, record and evaluate program data including applications, attendance, activity logs, surveys, etc.
  • Manage the Exploring College Summer Intensive by leading the application process, collaborating with co-educators, and overseeing the general curriculum.
  • While online: consistently evaluate online platforms, revise safety protocols and supervise any online sessions with high school students present.

This position is limited term for one year with the possibility of one year renewal/extension.
