It is anticipated w/COVID-19 that duties will require both on campus clinical component as well as remote tele-health component . Regularly scheduled days M-F including one designated evening hr/week

Purpose of this Position: The Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) provides clinical care to Emerson College students experiencing acute illnesses/injuries and chronic health conditions at the Boston campus health center / Center for Health & Wellness (CHW). The APC is expected to provide services and care that supports the CHW mission to assist students to achieve their own personal wellness and contributes to the achievement of their academic success. The APC is expected to exhibit a commitment to diversity, collaboration and team building.

The position is Full Time M-F and will include coverage of one evening clinic until 8 PM.

Essential Functions of the Role:
  • Assess/manage acute illnesses & injuries
  • Obtain health histories, medication use, allergies & risk assessment screenings
  • Review immunization status & provide immunizations
  • Functions under defined scope of practice for Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant which include, assessment, diagnosis, ordering/interpretation of laboratory or x-rays as well as prescribing of medication when indicated.
  • Refers students to specialists as appropriate
  • Collaborate and consult with other CHW team clinicians & the consulting physician when appropriate and to fulfill Commonwealth Of MA regulations

Other Responsibilities:
  • Phone & on site triage assessment of students presenting/calling with non-emergency health concerns
  • Conduct Tele-health assessment prior to in person clinical evaluation. If presenting condition cannot be assessed by telehealth and needs higher level of care- referral to off campus resources
  • Perform office procedures including: incision & drainage; suturing, CLIA laboratory /microscopy, phlebotomy, basic orthopedic immobilization
  • May participate in development or implementation of educational outreach activities
  • File Care & Support reports to CAST case manager
  • Document medical visits, follow -up test results within the students EHR on a timely basis
  • Communicate with students through the Online secure health portal.
  • Complete on line Contact tracing certification course through Johns Hopkins and be prepared to conduct phone contact tracing & or supervise non-clinician Emerson contact tracers during the COVOD-19 pandemic

  • Graduate of a professional advanced practice educational program MS degree in Nursing or related science/health specialty field
  • Current MA license for RN/NP or PA & eligibility for DEA/MDPH prescriptive authority
  • Demonstration of strong interpersonal and excellent clinical decision making skills
  • Ability to perform phlebotomy & CLIA waived laboratory testing
  • Current Professional Liability/ Malpractice Insurance $3 M per occurrence / $6 M aggregate
  • Current CPR certification
  • Working knowledge of developmental needs of adolescents/ middle aged adults

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated competence and experience with GYN, Contraceptive, STI, PrEP
  • Familiarity using screening tools, PHQ-9, GAD, AUDIT, CUDIT
  • Familiarity with using electronic medical record (Medicat preferred)

Required Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in adult, family, ER or primary care practice setting

Preferred Work Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical practice in ambulatory, primary care school or college-based practice setting
  • Experience with culturally diverse population
  • Prior experience in developing/presenting outreach programs

Hiring Range: $73,550.00 - $77,100.00
