Position Summary:

This position will support the research programs of Dr. Jennifer Weiss and Dr. Meghan Brennan. The research programs are independent, but share an interest in reducing rural healthcare disparities. Duties will include assisting both clinician-scientists with research support activities, including serving as the primary coordinator for both research programs.

Dr. Weiss's research focuses on improvements in colorectal cancer screening for both average-risk and high-risk populations. Her multidisciplinary research program includes projects in claims and electronic medical record data analysis, qualitative research techniques (1:1 interviews, focus groups, and survey analysis), and clinical/health systems interventions. Dr. Brennan's research program aims to reduce rural health disparities in major amputations for patients with diabetic foot ulcers. Her multidisciplinary research program also includes projects in claims and electronic medical record data analysis, qualitative research techniques (1:1 interviews), and clinical/ health systems interventions. The successful candidate will regularly work with colleagues from the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, the Division of Infectious Disease and the UW Health Innovation Program (HIP).

Degree and Area of Specialization:

BA or BS required, in biological or social sciences or health-related field preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

1-2 years experience in a public health, community or clinical health care setting and/or 1-2 years of experience in clinical or health or social research environment desirable.

Additional Information:

Excellent verbal and written skills and proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint are required. Experience in providing staff support to multidisciplinary teams a plus. Must be able to work well independently and on a team. Candidate should be detail oriented, and possess excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and organizational skills.

Hire will be subject to criminal and Caregiver background check requirements.
