Job Description:

Lesley seeks a Director of Business Intelligence, who will serve to lead and empower a professional team that works collectively to provide evidence, analysis, and internal and external reporting expertise for the University, including managing the lifecycle of surveys and analysis of key survey data, student success metrics, enrollment management trends, academic data and KPIs. The Director will serve as the central internal liaison and key contact with other departments, helping to ensure that university data is employed as a critical institutional asset in key areas of decision-making and will be a data storyteller with the ability to analyze and synthesize data from multiple internal and external sources, articulate implications and options in effective communications, and produce high-quality research and reports that contribute to and support a culture of data-informed decision-making on campus.

The selected individual, reporting to the Interim Chief Information Officer (CIO), will take primary ownership of the collection, analysis and interpretation, reporting, and maintenance of the University's critical data entities; work with leadership to ensure institutional data is collected accurately, analyzed rigorously, used appropriately, and shared with key stakeholders to make data-informed and evidence-based decisions; partner with the CIO to set the strategic direction, priorities and content for the office's projects, data governance policies, and communications; create predictive models, data analyses, and reports to support strategic plans; embrace innovation in data science methods including advanced modeling and the use of artificial intelligence/machine learning; determine project prioritization, including negotiating, defining, and clarifying requests, managing assignments, timelines, and deliverables, identifying potential collaborations, and communicating expectations clearly and respectfully to key stakeholders; seek out and incorporate relevant external data and combine/model data from multiple sources into analyses to provide new insights and inform strategy; reduce technical results into reports, visualizations and dashboards that can be easily and quickly understood; and clearly and compellingly communicate and present results of analyses in a variety of written and oral formats.


Requirements:

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience in research methodology, statistical analysis, trending, interpretation of data and findings, and familiarity with data collection and preparation; excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with individuals at all levels; experience with data visualization tools (Tableau preferred); experience with large databases and quantitative analytical tools, such as SPSS or SAS; experience in survey design, development, implementation, and reporting; intermediate to Expert MS Office Skills, with Excel; excellent self-initiative and service orientation; the ability to work well independently and as part of a team; and have at least a BA/BS degree in relevant business related field required. Master's degree in a research-related field such as statistics, mathematics, social science, behavioral science, information science preferred. Experience in higher education settings a plus.
