The requirements for this position include the earned Ph. D. in Accounting or equivalent from an AACSB accredited institution and demonstrated potential for quality teaching and research.

Candidates who are ABD may be considered, but the position requires completion of all doctoral requirements by September 15, 2021.

Areas of Interest (No Minimum Level Required)

We are particularly interested in candidates with relevant teaching and professional business experience and professional certification(s). Our primary need is for candidates with teaching interests in financial accounting at both the graduate and undergraduate level. However candidates with interests in managerial or governmental accounting may also be considered.

Description of the Department or Unit

The John A. Walker College of Business is AACSB accredited and has an enrollment of approximately 3,000 students in its undergraduate and graduate programs. The Department of Accounting is one of six departments in the college and has an enrollment of approximately 375 undergraduate majors and over 40 students seeking the M.S. degree. The department has 22 full-time faculty members. Additional information about the Department of Accounting is located here .

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Instructional duties will include a normal teaching load of nine credit hours per semester, curriculum development, participation in the program’s assurance of learning efforts, and may include on-line instruction. In addition to instructional duties, faculty members are expected to maintain an active program of scholarship as well as participate in service activities.

As a part of the COVID -19 response, Appalachian State University is employing flexible teaching formats to address academic needs and to comply with local, state and federal public health regulations or orders. Your deans retain the discretion to assign or reassign you to teach in either online or in-person formats during or after the COVID -19 pandemic, as necessary.
