Job Description

The School of Nursing at The University of Texas at Tyler invites applicants to apply for a full-time, non-tenure-track, clinical instructor faculty position at a salary commensurate with experience.  The Nursing program is offered year-round; faculty are given a 9-month academic appointment with the potential to work a bonus semester.


Essential Functions

  • Primary teaching on-site nursing courses and conduct clinical experiences for BSN students on the Palestine campus.
  • Assist the other classroom faculty as needed.
  • Mentor and advise students.
  • Participate in College and University Service.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Nursing, preferably in nursing education.
  • Clinical nursing experience.
  • Must have a current Texas license to practice nursing or be eligible to apply.


Preferred Qualifications

  • BSN teaching experience.

Nursing Program

The highly respected BSN program enrolls over 700 pre-nursing and 620 nursing students each semester.  Average pass rates on the NCLEX are 95% across three campuses located in Tyler, Longview, and Palestine, Texas.  An on-line RN-BSN track provides associate degree (ADN) and diploma prepared registered nurses the opportunity to earn a BSN from an accredited, respected program. A concurrent ADN-BSN track allows high achieving ADN students the opportunity to earn their BSN while completing their ADN. Online graduate programs were currently ranked among the top 20 in the country by US News & World Report in 2019.  We offer the Master of Science (MSN) Administration; MSN Education; MSN Informatics, Quality, & Safety; MSN Family Nurse Practitioner; MSN Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner; Doctor in Nursing Practice (DNP); and Philosophy Degree in Nursing (Ph.D.). Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
