Job Description


The Director, Professional Development m anages staff and/or resources to provide specific program or service offerings to internal or external stakeholders. P rovide s on-going professional development to faculty, staff, and administrators. D evelops original curriculum and presents it. A main focus of this role is the development of faculty. Manages all of the professional development traveling funding and manage s a professional development budget as well budget forecasting each year.


  • Provides leadership and direction through Managers and Senior Managers
  • Creates curriculum for original presentations and delivers presen tations
  • Plans and schedules the Professional Development calendar; coordinat es the Wellness and Customer Services Programs
  • Is accountable for the performance and results of related disciplines
  • Develops strategic plans for various projects managing multiple d eadlines, budgets and resources
  • Responsible for assessing return on Investment. Assesses all initiatives produced to det ermine their long-term impact
  • Develops and manages Faculty Professional Development including Faculty Development Day and overse es the Faculty Resource Center; c oordinates D2L open labs and is responsible for Convocation
  • Manages Adjunct Faculty Liaison Program and supervises part-time coordinator, part-time adjunct faculty liaisons and a djunct professional development
  • Responsible for employee h iring, t raining, and incentive programs
  • Manages professional development travel funds and Committee, and oversees professional development budget
  • Resolves issues with significant impact which are department wide
  • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

    The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No speci al physical demands are required to perform the work.


    • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
    • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
    • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards


    • Bachelor's degree and at least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Experience must include at least 3 years in a manager- or director-level position


    • Master's degree


    Hiring salary range is $65,140 to $74,911.

    Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
