Working Title: Costume Technology Supervisor Official Title: Artist Employment Class: Non Instructional Academic Staff FTE: .60 Compensation: Starting at $22.56/hour FLSA Status: non-exempt Terms of Employment: academic year, fixed term terminal Position Summary:
Directs the planning, operation, and supervision of the costume shop including the cutting and
construction of costumes for all productions and/or supervision of costume shop personnel; and
supervises alterations, purchasing, and rentals of costumes for each production and assists with
technical and dress rehearsals. Responsibilities
  • Oversees the daily operations of the costume shop including maintaining paperwork and budget, scheduling personnel, and fittings
  • May develop and manage the budget including the ordering and purchasing of materials and equipment
  • May supervise, train, and mentor personnel (skilled and unskilled labor) and/or students in costume construction.
  • Designs, constructs, alters, and fits costumes according to production needs.
  • Monitors and instructs personnel and students in the safe handling of costume shop equipment.
  • Organizes and ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the costume shop, equipment, and costume pieces.
  • Collaborates with production staff to rig costumes in order of appearance/need or for quick changes.
  • Attends rehearsals as needed
Qualifications Required: Knowledge of costume technology
Experience in pattern making, Draping, Cutting and Historical Costume Construction
Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion Preferred:
Degree in Theatre
