Bucknell University seeks applicants for a casual, non-benefits eligible Animal Caretaker to work on an as-needed basis. Some hours are scheduled on weekends and holidays with additional work available at other times.
This position is part of the Animal Care Department. Specifically, it supports the animal colonies including but not limited to primates, rodents, fowl, and bats utilized by faculty and students in the Biology Department, Psychology Department, Animal Behavior Program, and Neuroscience Program.
It is a fast paced, high priority position due to the needs of these programs/departments and it allows Bucknell to be in full compliance with Federal Regulations regarding animal housing and care. All aspects of animal husbandry (feeding, watering, cleaning, health monitoring, food prep, cage washing, cage prep) are involved on a daily basis.
Minimum Qualifications:
*Must be available some weekdays, weekends, and holidays on an as needed basis
*Must possess a valid driver's license
*Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
*Must be detail oriented with good communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
*Previous animal care experience
*Previous animal care experience and knowledge of animal care within the context of biomedical research
