Enrollment Services Specialist 3 (Admissions Counselor)

Penn State Hazleton seeks an Enrollment Services Specialist 3 to recruit students for the University and campus, build and maintain relationships with school counselors, participate in special visitation and recruitment programs for the campus, and regularly communicate with prospective students and applicants. Strong preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual. Traditionally, this position's working title is Admissions Counselor, but is negotiable dependent on background and professional experience.Primary duties include:
  • Providing intake services including taking student/parent phone calls and responding to email
  • Advise, counsel, and provide information to prospective and current students on University programs and processes and as well as eligibility requirements for admission and/or financial aid
  • Conduct individual appointments and group sessions with students and families, both in person and virtually
  • Communicate with a wide variety of audiences internal and external to the University
  • serve on campus committees
  • Attend training and development for the Enrollment Management team
The candidate should expect to work some nights/weekends. Other duties may be assigned based on background and experience.The position typically requires a Bachelor's degree or higher along with at least one year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The candidate should be proficient in the use of Office 365, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Previous experience with a university student information system, CRM (customer relationship management) system, and management of social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) is highly desirable. Successful candidate will have a strong communication and presentation skills, a willingness to travel locally and out-of-state on behalf of the campus and University, and the ability to work in a flexible, goal-oriented team environment.This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
