MILLIKIN UNIVERSITY invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Music–Trumpet. Completed doctorate required. Documented history of exceptional professional activity in trumpet performance (e.g., chamber music, solo, orchestral, jazz); evidence of successful teaching; and ability to attract and retain trumpet students is essential. The candidate should demonstrate emerging national visibility as a performer and/or educator appropriate to rank. Primary responsibilities include: teaching applied trumpet (classical & jazz) teaching related chamber ensembles and directing Jazz Band 2 with eventual consideration to direct Jazz Band 1 and assume the responsibilities of Coordinator of Jazz Studies.  Other responsibilities commensurate with qualifications. Expectations include engaging in recruitment and retention initiatives; performing in the Millikin-Decatur Symphony Orchestra and Faculty Jazz Sextet; university service in the form of faculty governance; and involvement with the campus community. Candidates demonstrating commitment to academic advising, entrepreneurship, and community outreach will receive strong consideration. Position begins August 2021.
