Assistant Director of the Student Success Center



Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is accepting applications for the Assistant Director of the Student Success Center (SSC). The Assistant Director will report to the Director of the Student Success Center and must be able to use sound judgement to maintain effective working relationships with SSC staff, faculty, and students. The Assistant Director will complete job responsibilities independently and must have the ability to analyze, synthesize, and implement policies and procedures.

The Assistant Director works closely with the Director of the SSC in coordinating and managing the Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program and the Subject Area Tutoring (SAT) Program. The Assistant Director is also responsible for coordinating and providing training for the staff of the SI and SAT programs as well as the hiring, with the Director’s approval, of staff for the SI and SAT programs. In addition, the Assistant Director will manage training for all other SSC staff that are included in the College Reading and Learning Association Tutor Certification Program held in the SSC. The Assistant Director will participate in all SSC management meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as education, psychology, counseling, business, or subject related field is required as well as a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a Student Success Center. Knowledge of the SI programs and SAT programs in higher education is essential to the position. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with coaches, students, faculty, staff, administrators, parents, and alumni as well as the community. Ability to disseminate information electronically to the campus community and to communicate effectively in both writing and speech. Ability to exercise sound judgement and discretion when dealing with confidential information.
