The University of Colorado Boulder invites applications for a Senior Professional Research Assistant, as part of the interdisciplinary project, “Deep Horizons: Making Visible an Unseen Spectrum of Ecological Casualties & Prospects.” The position connects to a Andrew W. Mellon Foundation John E. Sawyer Seminar on the Comparative Study of Cultures.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

The Senior Professional Research Assistant will help manage two to three art exhibits, work in collaboration with faculty, students, and visiting scholars, and participate in the year-long graduate seminar activities. They will work closely with Professor Erin Espelie, Co-Director of the NEST (Nature, Environment, Science & Technology) Studio for the Arts, and will have the opportunity, if so desired, to consult with the Natural Hazards Center, the Center for Native American and Indigenous Studies, and the departments of Cinema Studies & the Moving-Image Arts, Critical Media Practices, Art & Art History, and Sociology. Independent research will be expected to traverse multiple disciplines and ask intersectional questions concerning the changing planet as it affects specific peoples, communities, wildlife species, and ecosystems in varying and inequitable ways.

What You Should Know
  • Appointment term: January 15, 2021 – June 30, 2021.
  • Remote PRA's will not be considered, given the on-campus requirements associated with this work.

  • Master's degree in the humanities or arts and is expected to be completed by July 1, 2020.
