The Division of Animal & Nutritional Sciences at West Virginia University (WVU), Morgantown, WV invites applications for a full-time, 12-month position of Division Director. Employment begins on July 1, 2021, or as otherwise negotiated. The Division Director reports to the Dean of the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design. Once hired, the Division Director, in addition to the administrative responsibilities, shall be active in research and teaching as determined by need.

The Division of Animal & Nutritional Sciences is one of five academic units in the Davis College of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Design and has an enrollment of some 500 students in its programs in Animal and Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutrition and Food, and Biochemistry. Two-degree programs in Human Nutrition and Food have just had their accreditation renewed. The Division offers B.S., B.S.A., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees. The current faculty include 20 tenure-track and tenured faculty and 5 full-time teaching faculty, plus a number of adjunct faculty and part-time instructors. WVU is a Research I university and 1862 Land Grant institution. Located in Morgantown, WVU currently enrolls some 26,000 students and two satellite campuses in Beckley and Keyser, WV. Morgantown is a small city with a high quality of life in a region with many opportunities for outdoor activities. The county has 109,000 inhabitants and is big enough to offer diverse retail businesses and entertainment activities. Pittsburgh is the closest large city and can be reached in approximately 90 minutes by car. Pittsburgh International Airport is within a similar distance. Washington, DC can be reached by car within 3 to 4 hours. Bus service to Pittsburgh and Washington is also available.

Qualifications :

The successful applicant must demonstrate leadership and an aptitude for academic management, with preference given for previous administrative experience. An appreciation of the broad range of disciplines in ANS, insight into synergisms and collaboration among disciplines, and a commitment to the Land Grant mission are important. The successful candidate must possess effective oral and written skills. A Ph.D., in a discipline related to ANS, and a record of accomplishments to warrant tenure in the Davis College.
