The College of Engineering at Anderson University invites applications for several tenure-track instructional positions in the areas of mechanical engineering at the rank of assistant professor. Exceptionally well-qualified candidates with substantial teaching and supporting industry experience will be considered for appointment at an advanced rank (associate or full professor).  Anderson University is an innovative, entrepreneurial, premier comprehensive, liberal arts university affiliated with the South Carolina Baptist Convention. The University seeks candidates with a strong Christian value system, lifestyle, and commitment to the integration of faith and learning.

Anderson University is a “more selective” comprehensive Christian university offering bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees on campus and online. Anderson University is among US News and World Report’s “Best Regional Universities South,” and is on the publication’s “Most Innovative,” “Best Value,” “Best Undergraduate Teaching,” “Best Social Mobility” and “Best Online Programs” lists. Anderson also is ranked #27 nationally for Student Engagement by the Wall Street Journal; is a “Best College” among institutions of higher learning in the southeast by The Princeton Review; and is a three-time Apple Distinguished School. Our faculty include academic leaders who seek excellence in teaching pedagogy, research and publication within our 10 academic programs, schools and colleges, including the College of Engineering. More information about the AU College of Engineering is available at https://andersonuniversity.edu/academics/engineering

Opened in the fall of 2020, the College of Engineering offers undergraduate degree programs in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering. Anderson University’s College of Engineering is committed to student-centered learning by employing an innovative engineering curriculum that embraces the following educational philosophical elements: 1) Comply with the core AU Gold liberal arts tradition of debate, rhetoric and theology. 2) Establish entrepreneurship/entrepreneurism as a central thread throughout the delivery of engineering content. 3) Employ an inverted curriculum with hands-on engineering experiences beginning in the first year. 4) Use flipped classes that emphasize the use of technology to achieve independent learning and group problem solving, much like the real world. 5) A required practica/internship.

This full time faculty position requires a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering for all professor ranks. A minimum M.S. in mechanical engineering is required for appointment at the rank of instructor. Whereas we welcome applicants from all disciplines in these fields, preference will be given to candidates with backgrounds and teaching experience in heat transfer and thermal systems, dynamical and control systems, fields and forces, modeling and simulation with scholarly interests in the application of these to problems in human health and biomedicine. All candidates must have a record of successful, impactful teaching at the undergraduate or graduate level. Industry experience in the candidate’s field of expertise is preferred.

Application review will begin November 1, 2020 and end with a successful appointment. Candidates must successfully complete a background check. Applicants should submit application materials electronically at the following link: coenjobs@andersonuniversity.edu

  • A cover letter focusing on why the applicant is well-prepared to contribute to the required teaching and diversity & inclusivity missions of Anderson University.

  • Samples of prior recent teaching evaluations (if available)
  • Completed faculty employment application form.
