Applications are sought for an Assistant Professor of Music Production at Buena Vista University, beginning August 2021. We seek candidates who can teach undergraduate courses in all levels of music production. A well-prepared candidate must be able to teach courses specific to Music Production such as: Mixing and Mastering in AVID Pro Tools, Introduction to Live Sound, Introduction to AVID Sibelius, and Introduction to Film Scoring; as well as Music Theory and Music Appreciation. The candidate will be expected to run and maintain a college lab recording studio. The candidate’s load would include 24-credit hours of undergraduate teaching in addition to academic advising and service on university committees.

A well-qualified candidate must have graduate degrees in Music and Music Production; or a graduate degree in Music and professional experience in the commercial industry as a producer/recording engineer/live sound engineer. The candidate must have advanced knowledge of AVID Pro Tools and AVID Sibelius, Logic Pro X, Cubase, and Steinberg Wavelab (or other mastering software.)

The position requires strong teaching skills, engaged advising and mentoring of undergraduate students, and service to the institution. The ideal candidate will be an active musician in the commercial industry.
