Position Summary:

The Research Specialist, working title Clinical Research Study Coordinator, works within the UW - Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, Department of Radiology in the management of clinical trials. This involves participating in the daily management of research subjects enrolled in clinical trials and administrative management of clinical research trial activity for industry-sponsored, National Institute of Health (NIH) funded and investigator-initiated trials. Recruitment of volunteers, scheduling, data collection and all associated coordinator assessments necessary to a given protocols' completion are included in the responsibilities. It is the Department's mission to foster and support innovative research.

Degree and Area of Specialization:

Bachelor's degree required. Nursing or Biological Sciences degree preferred.

Minimum Years and Type of Relevant Work Experience:

Minimum of 1 year previous experience with clinical research studies preferred.

Prefix determined by years of relevant work experience. A minimum of seven years' experience required for appointment at the senior level.

A criminal and/or caregiver background check will be conducted.

License or Certificate:

Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) preferred.

Additional Information:

The incumbent must have good communication skills as he or she will interface with other departments within the hospital, clinics, and referral area as necessary to identify, collect and disseminate patient and protocol information. The incumbent must be able to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently using initiative and good judgment.

This position occasionally requires working outside of the regular 8-4:30 weekday hours and the incumbent must have flexibility in his or her schedule. Travel to various UW locations may be required as needed.

Candidates must be effective at building interpersonal relationships with constructive interactions, be clear and effective communicators, promote and create collegial environments that value accountability.
