West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses located in Beckley, WV, is currently inviting applications and nominations for the following employment opportunity:

The Department of Social Science/Public Administration and Department of Accounting/Management in a joint appointment within the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences, seek to hire a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Economics with a 4/4 teaching load and responsibility for teaching various Economics courses (e.g., Principles of Microeconomics; Principles of Macroeconomics; Money and Banking) and Business courses (e.g., Financial Management; Business Statistics). We are in search of an outstanding teacher with scholarly promise and who will participate in curriculum assessment and student advising, recruitment and retention. Faculty are expected to demonstrate value to the profession and university through creative activity and scholarship. The successful candidate will join an undergraduate college with a student-centered philosophy and whose student population is primarily rural or first generation.

WVU Tech is ranked first in the state for return on investment and is ranked seventh in the nation in annual ROI for students paying in-state tuition. The campus is in close geographic proximity to several state and national parks and numerous recreational opportunities. The Department of Social Science/Public Administration offers five BS degree programs: Criminal Justice, Forensic Investigation, Health Services Administration, Public Service Administration and Psychology. The Department of Accounting and Management offers baccalaureate degrees in Accounting and Business Management.

Qualifications :

Applicants must have a doctorate in economics or related field; or an ABD in economics or related field with the doctorate completed by the date of appointment. Evidence of scholarly promise and exemplary communication skill is essential. Experience in teaching college-level courses, including web classes, is desirable.
