Job Summary
This is a one year, limited term appointment; continuation of employment is contingent upon continued grant funding and employee performance.
The Department of Human Development and Family Studies ( HDFS ), through a partnership with the Department of Defense (DoD) and the US Department of Agriculture – National Institute of Food and Agriculture ( USDA / NIFA ), is seeking candidates for the position of Research Associate I/II to support the work of Military REACH . Military REACH provides high-quality resources to the DoD in the form of research and professional development tools across the spectrum of family support, resilience, and readiness. In collaboration with the larger research team, this individual will contribute to the creation of research reports and the coordination of research products through their various stages of development.
This individual will assist the Military REACH research team in planning, developing, and completing research reports, specifically brief summaries and comprehensive reviews of the literature. This person will also play an integral role in the development and implementation of an efficacy study, which requires knowledge of ethical research practices with human subjects and exemplary organizational skills.
Essential Functions
- Collect and compile recently published research pertaining to the well-being of military families, which includes utilizing tools to identify new research, the management of databases to store the research, teaching others how to utilize these databases, and keeping clear records of identified research.
- Manage the process of developing research summaries, which includes coordinating with project faculty, graduate students, copy editors, and the design team, assigning tasks to those involved in the writing process, and writing, reviewing, and editing the summaries as needed.
- Assist in the development of research reports by delegating tasks to the research team, tracking the progress of each report, conducting literature reviews, and writing, reviewing, and editing the report as needed.
- Assist in translating research into practical tools and information for our key stakeholders (e.g., social media, newsletters, families page).
- Act as the liaison between the research-focused graduate students and the Principal Investigators/Co-Investigators.
- Serve as the coordinator for a recently developed efficacy study that will require coordination among the REACH team and engaging with participants (e.g., recruitment, technical support, tracking their study progress).
Education Level
Master's degree from an accredited institutuion

Human Development/Family Studies, Communications, Organizational Management, Public Relations, Public Health, Public Administration, Health Services Administration, or a relevant discipline appropriate to position (focus related to the program)

Minimum Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of design, implementation, delivery and management of educational programs/services. Understanding of effective communications concepts; leadership skills to manage a diverse, collaborative team and demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher; proficiency in the operation of office equipment and search engines are also required.
