Assist Latino small business owners on a one-to-one basis with a wide variety of business management challenges.
Minimum of BA/BS degree in Business or a related field. Candidates who have not achieved this level of education may be considered with significant documented experience in a Business-related field. Demonstrated understanding of the challenges faced by Latino small business owners and how to help them overcome these challenges is critical. Applicant should have experience owning a small business, managing a small business or advising small business owners in the Latino community. Good knowledge of a wide variety of business management skills is important, as is the ability to communicate fluently (in writing and verbally) in both Spanish and English. Position requires a self-starter who is able to work effectively with a wide variety of people. Flexibility to meet schedules of clients in Linn and Benton counties.
Preferred Qualifications: Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Essential Duties:
Provide confidential individual advising services to Latino owners of small businesses.
Translate as required to help Spanish speaking clients understand and access the resources of the Small Business Development Center.
Maintain an awareness of both public and private sector resources available for small business owners and make appropriate referrals to those resources.
Teach a monthly Spanish equivalent of the Going into Business class.
Communicate and coordinate activities with other staff of the Business Development Center.
Maintain well-documented client files and enter all client advising activity into web-based database.
Meet with SBDC Director as needed.
Attend meetings of the Business Development Center when requested.
Sign a conflict of interest form and submit monthly reporting documentation as required.
