Tenure Track Assistant Professor in Earth Surface Processes
The Department of Geological Sciences at the University of Alaska Anchorage (UAA) seeks applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the broad area of Earth Surface Processes to complement other fields of expertise in the department. Although all areas of Earth Surface Processes will be considered, expertise in modeling of geomorphological, coastal, cryospheric, and/or marine intertidal processes is desired. The position is associated with a $20 million, 5-year National Science Foundation EPSCoR (Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research) grant that supports interdisciplinary research in the State of Alaska. The project is titled “Fire and Ice: Navigating Variability in Boreal Wildfire Regimes and Subarctic Coastal Ecosystems.” Applicants are encouraged to consult the Alaska EPSCoR website at www.alaska.edu/epscor for further information. Contributing to the boreal fire component and the ability to integrate across the coastal margin component is fundamental to the project. The position is scheduled to begin as early as January 2021. Interested applicants should submit a statement of interest that outlines their qualifications for this position and includes a research plan, teaching interests, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of three references. Applications must be submitted to Job #515717 at http://alaska.edu/jobs/. For questions about this position, please contact Dr. Lee Ann Munk, Chair of the Search Committee, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Review of applications will begin October 30, 2020 and will continue until the position is filled.
