Tenured or Tenure-Track Faculty Positions
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology
(MIT)
Cambridge, MA
The Ragon Institute together with the Department of Biology at The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), is seeking outstanding scientists for tenured or tenure-track faculty positions. The Ragon Institute has its own recently renovated building located near the heart of MIT. The Ragon Institute was officially established in February 2009 as a joint institute involving faculty from Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), MIT, and Harvard University.
The search is for a candidate to be hired at the assistant
professor level; however, under special circumstances, a senior
faculty appointment with tenure is possible. Applicants must have a
Ph.D. and/or M.D. or equivalent degree and have a track record of
exceptional achievement in basic or translational research and the
potential to develop an outstanding independent research program
that supports the Institute’s ultimate goal of harnessing the
immune system to prevent and cure human diseases. In particular, we
are looking for innovative scientists with expertise and interests
in infectious diseases, immunology, and/or the human microbiome. We
seek creative individuals who bring complementary approaches from
other disciplines, including engineering, physical sciences,
computational and structural biology, which can synergize with
ongoing basic and translational research efforts at the Ragon
Institute and in the Department of Biology.
The successful candidate will be provided with a generous start-up
package to complement outstanding laboratory and office space, as
well as access to state-of-the-art core facilities including
advanced flow cytometry, microscopy, BSL-3 facilities and an
extensive clinical specimen repository, a truly diverse culture and
strong mentorship. The successful candidate is expected to build
and maintain an internationally recognized, extramurally funded
research program complemented by substantial support from Institute
funds. Candidates should possess the ability to work
collaboratively with other scientists, and share our commitment to
undergraduate and graduate education by teaching courses and
supervising graduate and undergraduate research. We are
particularly interested in candidates who will help promote and
provide diversity.
Applicants should submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, a summary of current and proposed research, three letters of recommendation, and a statement on commitment to teaching, mentoring, diversity, and outreach. Candidates may comment on their experiences in these areas and/or how they envision contributing to our ongoing efforts.
Submit application materials to https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/17007. Completed applications will be reviewed starting October 30, 2020.
Note there are two other searches to fill faculty positions in the Biology Department. Candidates may apply to any or all of these positions, but must submit a separate application for each. View employment opportunities for additional details.
MIT and the Ragon Institute are equal employment opportunity employers. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, skin color, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, ancestry, or national or ethnic origin.
