Job Summary/Description

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Angelo State University in San Angelo, TX seeks applicants for an Assistant Professor of Chemistry in Analytical or Environmental Chemistry.

Typical Duties/Job Duties

The department is seeking an extraordinary teacher. The successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional teaching skills or the potential to develop these skills. The successful candidate will teach courses and laboratories for General Chemistry I and II and other courses, Inorganic Quantitative and Instrumental Analysis, as assigned (12 load hours) and will establish an undergraduate research program in analytical chemistry, or closely related field. Teaching duties include course and laboratory development, assessment of assignments, and reporting of student learning objectives. Additional responsibilities include service, academic advising and recruiting of students, program development, and assessment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of analytical and environmental chemistry sufficient to teach upper-level courses with laboratories. The skills to perform and direct original research in analytical/environmental chemistry. The ability teach at a high level while pursuing an independent research program at
an undergraduate institution.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph. D. in analytical chemistry or a closely related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in analytical chemistry or a closely related field and a proven track record of 2-3 or more years in teaching and research with undergraduates.
