Assistant Director - Advising, Concurrent Enrollment

Position Category: Staff - Full-Time

Summary:
UVU is seeking an Assistant Director of Advising. This role will assist with all functions related to directing the advising team, including the staffing, onboarding, and supervision of advisors within the program. Maintains a 70% advising load and advises new, prospective, concurrent enrollment students in all aspects of the program. This includes university-wide academic programs, student development, and major pathways. Manages caseload using predictive analytics and proactive outreach to improve retention. Duties include explaining policies, making referrals, maintaining records, addressing academic standards issues, coordinating academic issues with faculty and staff, and attending meetings as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field and two years experience related to the Summary of Duties or a combination of education and/or experience totaling six years.

  • Knowledge of recruitment of high school students.
  • Knowledge of career and academic counseling practices, services, activities, and operations.
  • Knowledge of student development theory and effective student success strategies.
  • Knowledge of career assessment, counseling, and other related technology.
  • Knowledge of predictive analytics for student success.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods, and techniques of effective organizational staffing, supervision, and personnel practices, including staff development and training.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to UVU’s mission and strategic directions.
  • Demonstrated skill in effective interpersonal, collaboration, and professionalism.
  • Demonstrated skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated skill in effective communication across university divisions, faculty, and staff.
  • Demonstrated skill in problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Demonstrated skill in employee development and performance management.
  • Ability to demonstrate relationship care-taking and group facilitation techniques to ensure continued engagement by stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in a directly related field and four years experience related to the Summary of Duties or a combination of education and/or experience totaling ten years.


Physical Requirements:
Work is performed in a normal office environment.
