About the Opportunity:
Responsibilities:
The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is seeking an Operations and Tech Manager to oversee the daily operations of the department's six teaching labs including capstone and Makerspace. This position works and reports to the Director of Administration and Finance, but also works with the Vice Chair of Undergraduate Education and the Department Chair on all aspects of managing the educational labs including, class schedules, working with College Assistant Director of Academic Operations for construction and other activities as it pertains to the educational labs. The position collaborates with the Assistant Dean, Engineering Enrollment Management and Retention on supporting the Colleges Welcome days and Engineering Wednesday, etc. Manages entire operations of the six-teaching lab with required lab sessions, lab exercises, lab equipment components, parts and equipment. The position also manages technical support for all six teaching labs which include numerous software and hardware installations, modifications, calibrations and troubleshooting.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 8 years technical operations management required to include, budget understanding and supervisory experience, preferably in research active academic setting. Significant understanding of laboratory test and measure equipment, laboratory data acquisition and instrument control software installation, simple test and repair of laboratory equipment, calibration procedures and troubleshooting skill are required. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks at once, ability to work independently and handle confidential information are highly sought. Experience with budget review, forecasting and monitoring, as well as experience with program evaluation and quality and organizational improvement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work well with faculty, staff and students. Supervisory experience and strong customer service skills.
