Responsible to the direct administrative supervisor and the Director of Athletics, the Head Athletic Trainer oversees the health and well-being of over 400 student-athletes, and works directly with the College’s orthopedic physician, the Athletics Health Care administrator, the Athletic Administrative team, and the Student Health and Wellness office to ensure all appropriate protocols, policies, and procedures are implemented and/or followed as directed. Effective communication with all of the previously mentioned professionals, along with the student-athletes and coaching staffs is imperative. Assessment of student-athlete health, programs for prevention and rehabilitation, overseeing emergency action plans, and accurate record keeping are essential. Compliance of data collection and reporting for NCAA, Midwest Conference, or other reporting constituencies as required. Lecturer title is attached to position, and professional will be asked to teach one athletic training related course each year. The position will supervise the assistant athletic trainers and up to 10 student staff, serve on campus-wide committees, maintain licensing, and seek ongoing education focused on best practices.

This is an 11 month position.

Master’s degree in athletic training and five years of experience is required and NATA Certification, Iowa License for Athletic Training, AED/First Aid/CPR certification.
