Cancer Genetics Specialist
The Division of Surgical Oncology, Department of Surgery, Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine is inviting applications for the position of Cancer Genetics Specialist. The incumbent will be affiliated with the NCI-designated UT Health San Antonio MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Clinical responsibilities include coordinating specialized genetic counseling services for identified patient populations by designing, developing, implementing and supervising patient/family genetic counseling programs. Analyzing and interpreting information about the genetic disorder and inheritance patterns to aid in diagnosis and treatment of the disease. Counseling patients and families by explaining aspects of the disease, current state of knowledge, and potential diagnostic techniques. Academic responsibilities will include teaching genetic counseling and shadowing students rotating through UT Health San Antonio. Candidate is expected to provide subject matter expertise and teach medical students and medical residents through grand rounds presentations, and Tumor Board meetings.
The successful candidate must have a Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling and be Board-certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling.
