Assistant Professor, Political Science

Caudill College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time tenure track position as Assistant Professor, Political Science. The anticipated start date is January 4, 2021.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. This location provides opportunities for a wide-range of outdoor recreation activities. Additionally, Morehead State University is relatively close to a number of larger cities including Lexington, KY, Louisville, KY, and Cincinnati, OH. RESPONSIBILITIES: Primary responsibilities will be to teach in the Master of Public Administration program that may include: Public Policy, Budgeting, Management, and Foundations of Public Administration. Applicants with experience to teach undergraduate political science courses in U.S. State and Local Government; Federalism; and American Politics with Women and Politics or African-American Politics a plus. The normal teaching load is four courses/semester. Applicants should have a strong teaching record, and enthusiasm to support program initiatives in and outside of the classroom to enrich students and enhance the profile of the programs.

REQUIREMENTS: A Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Affairs, Public Policy or Public Administration is required (DPA, DPP and advanced ABDs will be considered). The potential to develop and sustain an academic research program resulting in peer-reviewed publications is also required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Successful and responsible experience working in the public sector and successful teaching in higher education are preferred. Demonstrated record of securing and executing externally funded grants preferred.
