Applications are invited for appointment as Non-Tenure Track Assistant Professor in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 501976), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal, subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, electronic and information engineering or other related fields, with in-depth knowledge of at least one of the following programming languages: C/C++, JAVA or Python. They should be experienced in machine learning algorithms, pattern recognition, and/or reinforcement learning. Knowledge of natural language processing, knowledge graph, question answering, machine translation, speech recognition, or related fields will be highly desirable. They should have the capacity and potential of high-quality, collaborative and impactful research demonstrated by a good track record of publications and external grants.

The appointee will work closely with Professor Heidi Larson's team in the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to develop AI analytics for monitoring the digital/social media for the emergence and spread of vaccine misinformation and anti-vaccination propaganda. He/She will also contribute to the teaching and supervision of postgraduate research students.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary. Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
