Assistant Dean for Student Services and Engagement

The College of Health and Human Development (HHD) is looking for a dynamic candidate to serve as the Assistant Dean for Student Services and Engagement, leading efforts to support and engage undergraduate students in HHD from recruitment through commencement. The successful candidate will report to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate and Outreach Programs.

Responsibilities include:
  • Effective delivery of academic advising across the College and work with the Lead Adviser in the Center for Student Advising and Engagement to manage the Center's primary functions related to New Student Orientation and advising first year and exploring students.
  • Manage the college effort on retention and student success, including coordinating efforts within the Center for Student Advising and Engagement, with other College units, and with College academic departments to align financial aid, student services, and student engagement programs with strategic goals, implement practices and processes to achieve goals, and to measure outcomes and adjust actions to enable students to achieve success.
  • Collaborate with the College's Recruitment Director, Associate Dean, Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion, Lead Advisor and others on planning for recruitment, orientation, and transition programs for students.
  • Maintain strong relationships with university-level offices, including Career Services, Financial Aid, Student Affairs, Student Health, and Student Success.

This is an academic administrator position and requires a doctorate and at least 10 years of relevant teaching or mentoring experience. Appreciation for practical education with a purpose, the contribution of multidisciplinary approaches to human health and well-being and expertise in a discipline related to health, health care, hospitality, or recreation is preferred.
