Description: This 12-month staff position will coordinate and teach introductory laboratory courses in geology, manage the department website, and collaborate with faculty in recruiting and diversifying geology majors. The start date will be January 1, 2021.

Responsibilities include: preparing and teaching Physical Geology laboratory courses online and face-to-face; developing curriculum for the lab, in consultation with faculty and using the latest available technologies; teaching a maximum of 8 sections of lab per Spring and Fall semester; serving on appropriate departmental committees and participating in departmental faculty meetings; fostering partnerships with local K-12 schools and community colleges to recruit geology majors; providing outreach to community and engage future students from diverse backgrounds and maintain BGE departmental website.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Ability to coordinate and teach multiple sections of Physical Geology laboratories.
  • Ability to do mathematical, graphical, and data manipulation and management with computer software
  • Ability to use and work in a Learning Management System such as Canvas
  • Experience with up-to-date technology to compose and edit websites
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well with others, multitask, and serve the academic mission of the department, rendering service in a collegial manner

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in Geology; experience teaching Physical Geology labs face-to-face and online; experience with building and maintaining web pages.
