West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses located in Beckley, WV, is currently inviting applications and nominations for the following employment opportunity:

The Department of Social Science/Public Administration within the College of Business, Humanities and Social Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Psychology beginning August 2021. The teaching load is 4/4 with assignments in traditional and online instruction. We are in search of an outstanding teacher with scholarly promise who will participate in student advising, recruitment, retention, and curriculum assessment. Faculty are expected to demonstrate value to the profession and university through creative activity and scholarship. The successful candidate will join an undergraduate college with a student-centered philosophy and whose student population is primarily rural or first generation.

WVU Tech is ranked first in the state for return on investment and is ranked seventh in the nation in annual ROI for students paying in-state tuition. The campus is in close geographic proximity to several state and national parks and numerous recreational opportunities. The Department of Social Science/Public Administration offers five undergraduate degree programs: Criminal Justice, Forensic Investigation, Health Services Administration, Public Service Administration and Psychology.

Qualifications :

The successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in Psychology or closely related field or an ABD in Psychology or closely-related field with a completion date no later than December 31, 2021. Evidence of scholarly promise and exemplary communication skills are essential. Preference is given to candidates with undergraduate teaching experience and successful maintenance of a rodent colony, including familiarity with IACUC protocols and procedures.
