Department of Pharmacodynamics is looking for a highly motivated early career investigator with research experience in experimental hematology and leukemia research at the rank of as a Research Assistant Professor.
This junior, non-tenure-track faculty position will:
- Conduct studies to determine genetic and epigenetic alterations in hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) after chemotherapy and radiation and during aging using the state-of-the-art technologies, such as next generation sequencing (NGS), transcriptome mutation analysis, single cell RNA sequencing, and CHIP-sequencing.
- Perform bioinformatic data analysis using various NGS tools (such as Bowtie 2, Tophat, cufflinks, STAR, MACS2, SamTools, Seurat, and Galaxy), data bases (for example, TCGA, UCSC, NCBI-GEO, ICGC, Proteomics DB, ELM, JASPAR, and CellMiner), pathway analysis (including DAVID, KEGG, REACTOME, ConsensusPathDB, and GSEA) and statistical methods.
- Perform a variety of phenotypic and functional analyses for HSCs, such flow cytometry, HSC and hematopoietic progenitor cell clonogenic assay, and HSC transplantation.
- Mentor and teach graduate students and undergraduate students. Communicate research progress to colleagues, present research at conferences, and write grant proposals and articles for publication.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent record of publication, experiences in experimental hematology and leukemia research, development of new ideas and technologies to gain a better understanding HSC aging, clonal hematopoiesis and leukemogenesis at the single cell level, and a keen interest in using an research faculty position as a resource to not only strengthen aging and cancer research at the University of Florida, but also launch an independent research career. Strong written and verbal communication skills, analytical skills, and creativity are essential. Applicants interested in advancing teaching skills will have that opportunity. In addition to substantial research infrastructure and financial support, the salary for this position will be highly competitive according to the applicant’s qualifications and experience.
Minimum: PhD in biomedical research; some postdoctoral experience in experimental hematology and leukemia research
Preferred: PhD in biomedical research; 3 or more years of postdoctoral experience in experimental hematology and leukemia research; and a strong record of high impact publications
