The University of Florida Department of Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics, Division of Health Outcomes and Implementation Science in the College of Medicine, seeks applicants for a full-time Assistant Scientist position on the non-tenure track. The position will require collaboration with other social and behavioral scientists, health professionals, and health policy experts in the Institute and the Department on the design, coordination, and implementation of improvement science and program evaluation research to evaluate access, quality, and cost for beneficiaries enrolled in the Texas and Florida Medicaid Programs.

We are seeking a social/behavioral scientist/health services researcher with strong study design, data collection, and analytical research skills in quantitative and survey research. The candidate must also have an interest in implementation and improvement science and/or program evaluation.

Candidates in this position will spend approximately half of their time focused on the Texas Medicaid improvement science/program evaluation project. The other portion of their time will be dedicated conducting research with a senior mentor in Health Outcomes and Biomedical Informatics. The goal through both the improvement/program evaluation and mentored research is for the successful candidate to develop a robust research program focused on implementation and improvement science, particularly directed toward improving care for vulnerable populations.

Specific requirements for the position include: (1) an earned doctorate in a health or social sciences field and (2) a minimum of two years of research experience specifically focused on research in health care delivery, implementation and/or improvement science, and/or program evaluation. Primary criteria for appointment include outstanding oral and written communication skills, ability and experience authoring technical reports, experience in project/research management, demonstrated expertise in statistical applications and software packages (e.g., SAS, SPSS, Stata, N-Vivo, Atlas.ti, and ArcGIS, ), and interest, ability and experience in collaborative multi-disciplinary research. Applicants must also demonstrate:
  • Interest in implementation and improvement science so that study findings can be translated into practice. Ability to successfully interact with project stakeholders in government agencies and health plans is important.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of issues central to examining quality, cost and access to care for adults and children who are underserved.
