ResponsibilitiesThe Department of Computer Science in Mercer University's College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for a tenure track Cybersecurity faculty position. The appointment will be effective August 1, 2021.
Applicants should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Responsibilities include:
- teaching undergraduate courses in cybersecurity, computer science, and information technology,
- directing undergraduate research projects,
- serving as faculty advisor for students in the department,
- mentoring our Cyber Defense Competition Team,
- assisting with efforts to become an NSA Center of Academic Excellence in cyber defense, and maintaining an active research program.
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. from an accredited college/university in cybersecurity, computer science, information technology, computer engineering, or in a closely related area. Applicants with ABD will be considered for the interview process provided there is evidence that all degree requirements will be completed by time of appointment. Applicants must have a demonstrated academic and/or professional background in cybersecurity. This person will serve a key role in the offering of our cybersecurity program at Mercer University.
Research and curricular initiatives that support innovation and problem solving in areas such as secure software development, virtualization and cloud computing, automation and orchestration, cybersecurity governance, and cyber analytics, are preferred.

The Computer Science Department, situated in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, offers degrees in cybersecurity, computer science, computational science, and information science and technology. The BS degree program in computer science is accredited by ABET. The Department also offers coursework in support of the Computer Engineering major that is offered through Mercer's School of Engineering, and coursework for Business majors in Mercer's School of Business.
