Tenure-track, open rank faculty position in Advanced Manufacturing

The Department of Mechanical and Materials Engineering (MME) in the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) at Florida International University (FIU) invites applications for a full time tenure-track, open rank faculty position beginning Fall 2021 in the area of advanced manufacturing. The successful candidate will show leadership, innovation, and excellence in research and teaching in the area of advanced manufacturing technologies including additive manufacturing (AM), characterization and life prediction of additively manufactured (AM) material for new applications including aerospace, defense, biomedical, and infrastructure. Areas of interest include but are not limited to, additive manufacturing processes and characterization, scalable micro/nano-manufacturing, bio-manufacturing, and formative or hybrid printing.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related field of engineering, demonstrated a record of scholarly work commensurate with rank and commitment to teaching a diverse set of undergraduate and graduate students in the area Mechanical Engineering and Materials Engineering. Applicants are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching, mentorship, and service, with an emphasis on an externally funded research program of international reputation. The candidate is expected to collaborate with other faculty members in MME and other departments in the CEC and FIU. Currently, MME department participates in large multi-university projects such as NSF ERC, DOE-MSIPP, and NASA-MIRO. Candidates should complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths in research and teaching.
