Assistant Professor of Social Work
The Hood College Department of Sociology and Social Work invites applications for a full-time tenure-track social work position beginning August 2021. The Department awards a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work and is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The successful candidate will have demonstrated ability, or strong potential for success, in teaching across the social work curriculum in the context of generalist social work practice. The faculty member will be expected to contribute to the departmental culture committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. In addition to teaching 21 credits per year, the faculty member will be expected to advise social work majors, engage in scholarship and professional development activities, and provide service in support of the program, department, and college. By the position start date, applicants must have a DSW/PhD and a MSW degree from CSWE accredited institutions, at least two years of post-master’s social work practice, and some teaching experience in an accredited social work program. A PhD in a related field will be considered. Candidates should be licensed, or license-eligible, as a social worker in Maryland. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching undergraduates, and to candidates whose research interests support and encourage diversity, equity, and inclusion in social work practice and/or education.
