The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the CERGE-EI Foundation will support the Chairperson of the Foundation’s Board of Directors by providing leadership for the US-registered CERGE-EI Foundation, as it increasesits emphasis on fundraising in the Unites States and strengthens its fundraising performance.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Providing leadership for the Foundation in delivering results for its US fundraising activities, including the development and implementation of a strategic fundraising plan and campaigns.
  • Providing leadership for the Foundation’s day-to-day governance, including ensuring that the further development of its processes are in compliance with legal requirements and sufficient to meet current and future challenges.
  • Developing and managing relationships and communications with funders and grantees – including identifyingand cultivating major individual, corporate, government, trust and foundation donors, and soliciting and stewarding donations from them.
  • Assisting the Chairperson in maximizing the contributions of individual members of the Board of Directors,commensurate with their
  • Preparing the Foundation’s annual budget, audit reports, and materials to support Board
  • Assisting the Chairperson and Board of Directors in identifying and recruiting other Board and staff

Required Qualifications:

This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the success of the CERGE-EI Foundation and has a strong track record of fundraising at a board level. The successful candidate will have significant leadership experience within philanthropy and the nonprofit sector, and achievements that would enable them to recruit other well-qualified, high-performing Board and staff members.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant executive leadership achievements in philanthropy and within the nonprofit sector.
  • Demonstrated success as an experienced executive, ideally within nonprofit organizations.
  • A track record of building credibility within the funding community that has resulted in major gifts for nonprofit
  • Diplomatic skills and a natural affinity for cultivating relationships and convening, facilitating, and building consensus among diverse individuals and groups.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a passion for improving the performance of CERGE-EI
