About the Opportunity:
The Division of Information Technology is currently seeking a talented individual to fill the role of Application Analyst. The Application Analyst will participate in the delivery and administration of Enterprise Applications and Systems that meet the academic and administrative needs of the University. The Application Analyst:
  • Is responsible for the support, configuration and administration of new and existing applications and systems that the department supports. A particular focus will be in the CO-OP and Career Services space.
  • Is responsible for researching, monitoring and documenting the functions and features of applications/systems.
  • Provide technical support in the identification, analysis, and resolution of problems.


The key challenge of this position is to ensure that application services deployed by the department are properly supported, maintained, sufficiently available, and administered. To ensure that essential services are provided to the university community, the employee will be required to work outside their regular working hours as needed.

Responsibilities:
  • Under general direction from management, support project initiatives undertaken by the department. Examples include support and configuration of applications/systems, and provide input into the establishment of policies, processes and procedures for applications/systems.
  • Research, evaluate, and document the functions and features of new and existing applications/systems.
  • Coordinate, communicate, and test the rollout of upgrades for assigned applications/systems.
  • Perform administration tasks for the various applications/systems the departments had deployed including but not limited to system monitoring, account management, application deployment, message monitoring, replication, scripting and automation of maintenance tasks, data integrations, etc.
  • Document operational procedures related to these tasks.
  • Provide support (depending on the applications/systems) to department customers.
  • Provide accurate and effective documentation on reported issues and problems.
  • Maintain SSL trust and keyfiles for assigned applications/systems.
  • With support from management, enhance knowledge of the applications/systems the department supports. Keep up to date on emerging technology trends and solutions. This can be accomplished via formal education(training, conferences, seminars, etc), as well as knowledge gained from technical publications, magazines, peers, etc.

  • Qualifications:
    The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Minimum of Bachelors degree in a related field, preferably with continuing studies and course work.
  • At least 3 years of experience in the administration, installation, and configuration of enterprise applications/systems.
  • UNIX, Linux, and/or Windows administration experience a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills required.
  • Experience in the administration, installation, and configuration of web and application server technology a plus, preferable in any of the following products: Apache/Tomcat, IBM (HTTP Server/WebShere Application Server), Oracle (HTTP Server/Web Logic Server, Microsoft IIS.
  • Strong SQL database skills required.
  • Ellucian Banner experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated continued professional growth and development.
