The School for International Studies at Simon Fraser University (Vancouver campus) invites applications for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin September 2021. We invite applications from historians and anthropologists with expertise in colonialism, decolonization, and postcolonial legacies. We are particularly interested in scholars with expertise in the Middle East, South or Southeast Asia, or scholars with a global/comparative scope.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree by the appointment start date, demonstrated excellence in research, and strong teaching potential. Experience with applied research or translating research for policy or public audiences will also be considered an asset.

The School for International Studies is an interdisciplinary unit with research and teaching programs focused on peace and security; international development; human rights and international law; and governance and civil society. The normal teaching load for this full-time position is four courses per year, taught in two of three terms, with the third for research.
